Julie & Julia and Le Cordon Bleu
Meryl Streep is Julia Child and Amy Adams is Julie Powell in writer director Nora Ephron’s adaptation of two bestselling memoirs: Powell’s Julie & Julia and My Life in France, by Julia Child with Alex Prud’homme.
Based on two true stories, Julie & Julia intertwines the lives of two women who, through separated by time and space, are both at loose ends until they discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible.
In the film, a young woman named Julie Powell, looking for a way out of her normal routine, acts on her idea to cook all 524 recipes in Julie Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking – and blog about her experiences. Her year-long postings about the hits and misses of trying to duplicate the famous recipes become delicious fare for the foodie crowd who avidly follow her stories.
Julia Child spent several years in Paris, which led to Ms. Child following her passion for food to culinary training at Le Cordon Bleu.
